Psychologist and speech and language therapist · Multilingual care
Originally from California and clinically trained in Barcelona, Veena is a native English speaker who also works in Spanish and Catalan, enabling her to provide care that is particularly sensitive to different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Veena is a speech and language therapist at the European International School of Barcelona and combines this role with her work as a child and adolescent psychologist and speech and language therapist at Trivium. She draws on her interdisciplinary training to carry out psychological and speech and language assessments and therapies in English, Spanish and Catalan. She supports children and adolescents with areas such as learning difficulties, developmental language disorder, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, speech and communication difficulties, and difficulties with emotional regulation and social skills.
Her own experience of adapting to a new linguistic and cultural context has helped her develop an empathetic and sensitive approach to the needs of each child and family. She views intervention as personalised and tailored to the characteristics of each child or adolescent.
She is known for her listening skills, empathy and intercultural sensitivity, and for her commitment to providing supportive, creative and rigorous interventions that help every child and adolescent reach their full potential.
