Speech and language therapist and social integration worker · Director of Trivium La Caseta (UTC)
Paula specialises in the assessment, intervention and research of pragmatic communication difficulties, both in children and young people with high-functioning autism and in children with complex communication needs who require intensive support.
She leads the Trivium La Caseta Unit (UTC), where she supports the team and families, promotes innovation and training projects, and ensures personalised, high-quality care. She teaches at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and is completing her PhD in collaboration with Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, focusing on the communication difficulties of people with complex communication needs and autism. She also works as a speech and language therapist specialising in this field at UNIM-TEA, part of Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.
In 2019, she achieved the highest academic results in her graduating class and received the extraordinary award for her Speech and Language Therapy degree. She has taken part in teaching innovation projects, including inter-university coordination to deliver healthcare placements virtually via videoconferencing, funded by the Complutense University of Madrid in 2020, and the UAB’s virtual programme for analysing language samples with formative feedback. She has co-authored several scientific articles and spoken at conferences, courses and events.
Enthusiastic and optimistic, she brings a positive energy that inspires and motivates those around her: her passion for her profession shines through in every project and in the way she supports children, young people, families and her team.
